Upon recommendation of the HRZ and the bodies subject to approval DSM, ISM, PR & SBV, in the service environment

• the use of Microsoft Windows in the Enterprise version is required to ensure reliable and largely data protection-compliant operation.
• the use of Microsoft Windows in the Professional version is tolerated as long as the transmission of telemetric data to the manufacturer is set to the minimum.
• the use of Microsoft Windows in the Home version is prohibited, as the transmission of telemetric data to the manufacturer can only be objected to in an insufficient form.

You should therefore generally use

• for stationary PCs: Microsoft Windows 11 in the Enterprise version
• for mobile devices: Microsoft Windows 11 in the Professional Version

Create a backup of your data in the running legacy system if you do not want to use new hardware when installing Microsoft Windows. Save this backup on an external data carrier.

Authorized users can find the product keys in PC network system under X:\Downloads\Microsoft Campus\. Make a note of the product key corresponding to your Windows version.

Authorized users can find the installation media in PC network system under X:\Downloads\Microsoft Campus\Windows. Create a bootable installation medium using this ISO file and suitable software (e.g. Rufus). Connect the installation medium to the new device to be installed - it will be required in the next step when setting the UEFI BIOS.

Before installing the operating system, you should update the UEFI BIOS to the latest version and set it up according to the instructions. The installation files and corresponding setting instructions can be found in PC network system under X:\HRZ-Support\Dell\BIOS.

• Format a USB stick with the FAT file system and copy the executable UEFI BIOS file to this data carrier
• Connect the USB stick to the device
• Start the device and press F12 (Preparing one-time boot menu)
• In the menu, select BIOS FLASH Update under OTHER OPTIONS
• Click on “…” and select the executable file
• Check the details and then click on “Begin Flash Update”
• At the end of the process, the device restarts
• During the restart, press the F2 key (Preparing to enter setup) to enter the UEFI BIOS settings
• Carry out the settings according to the instructions

Please make a note of the 12-digit MAC address of the network adapter during the settings - this is required in the next step to determine the host name, you can usually find it under General > System Information: LOM MAC Address.

Before the installation, you must first determine the host name of your device, as this is required for the installation. This process is described under Client integration.

The following instructions should be observed during installation - using Microsoft Windows 11 Professional as an example:

• Operating system to be installed: Windows 11 Pro
• Select “Benutzerdefinierte Installation (ENG: ”Custom installation“)
• Let's name your device: Enter the previously determined Hostnamen (ENG: ”host name”) here
• How do you want to set up this device? Für Arbeit oder Schule/Uni einrichten (ENG: ”Set up for work or school/university“)
• Set up your business, school or university account: Click “Anmeldeoptionen” (ENG: ”Enrollment Options”)
  • Select “Stattdessen der Domäne beitreten” (ENG: ”Join the domain instead“)
• Who will be using this device: In the “Geben Sie Ihren Namen ein” (ENG: ”Enter your name”) input field, you must assign a (local) user name:
  • If the device is to be integrated into the PC network system later (this usually applies to stationary devices) please do not (!) use your user name at Jade University here (but your lower case first name, for example).
  • If the device is not to be integrated into the PC network system later (this usually applies to mobile devices), please use your user name at Jade University here.
• Make the following settings under Systemsteuerung / System (ENG: ”Control Panel / System“):
  • Domäne oder Arbeitsgruppe > Ändern… > Arbeitsgruppe: HS-WOE (ENG: Domain or workgroup > Change… > Workgroup: HS-WOE)
  • Productkey und Aktivierung > Ändern: (ENG: Product key and activation > Change:) Enter the product key here

• For Dell computers, install the “Dell Command” application
• Install any missing device drivers.
• Install a suitable Virusprotection.
• Run the Windows Update and install all available updates for the operating system
