E-Mail - Classic
The Jade University Computing Center currently operates a Microsoft Exchange Server 2019 system as its enterprise messaging platform.
This system is currently being migrated to Exchange Online. If your mailbox has not yet been migrated, you can find further information here regarding access to the classic Exchange Server 2019 system and instructions for setting up your email clients.
If you require further information about the classic Exchange Server 2019 system or have any questions, please contact your colleagues at the university computer center at your place of study.
Access to Exchange Inboxes
There are different mechanisms and protocols povided for you to gain access to your Exchange inbox:
- MAPI over HTTP:
HTTPS-based access for the latest Microsoft Outlook clients (2016/2019 or 365)
- Exchange Web Services (EWS):\\HTTPS-based access for e.g. Microsoft Outlook Client for MAC, Evolution (via addON)
- Exchange ActiveSync (EAS):
HTTPS and XML-based synchronization protocol for other email clients such as Microsoft Windows Mail, Apple macOS Mail, etc., as well as mobile devices with operating systems such as Apple iOS or Google Android
- IMAP/SMTP:
Classic access protocol for e-mail clients such as e.g. Mozilla Thunderbird
Set-Up of E-Mail Clients
The setup of an email client differs fundamentally only in terms of the access mechanism or access protocol used.
