Microsoft Imagine (formerly MSDAA, then DreamSpark) is a Microsoft programme, which is aimed at the special fields in the MINT-area. Students and teaching staff in the participating special fields get provided access to the latest Microsoft designer- and developer tools. The participation in the Microsoft Student Advantage Benefit Programme results in the authorisation for students to use Office 365 without having to pay for it.

The Jade University has decided against a participation in this programme.

Main reasons are, e.g.

• data privacy law concerns (publication of personal data of students in Microsoft)
• a high administration effort (all personal licenses need to be managed separately by the university)

Alternatively, students of the Jade University can purchase the „low priced“ Microsoft Office 365 University directly at Microsoft or other online shops. The use will cost between 1,50€ and 1,65€ per month.

The Jade University is participant in the Sophos state contract.
